Ladies Section

Our Ladies Section was established in 1931 and we are saddened that our first Secretary, Miss Cathie Davidson,  our Honorary President recently died at the grand old age of 102 years old.  Here is a picture from the 100th celebration.

Our playing days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons and also Thursday evenings.  Rink games are played on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday whilst Fridays are more relaxed with casual ‘bounce’ games or practice matches.  We greatly enjoy friendly matches with our neighbouring clubs in the area and take part in association games within the Scottish, West of Scotland and Dunbartonshire leagues.

We also have many in house competitions, entry to which is purely voluntary, as bowling is enjoyed at our club in a relaxing or as a competitive way as desired.

Milngavie Ladies hosts an annual Open Competition, the Neil McKnight Trophy, when we welcome teams from near and far to join us for the day.

During the months when the greens are closed, we enjoy carpet bowls on Monday and Friday afternoons which are friendly, fun occasions with tea and chat thrown in.

Also in the winter we have activities for charity fund raising events and even line dancing for fun.
